Decided as the weather was good, to take the option of a 2 hour low intensity ride… and what better way to keep the thrashing down and the fun levels up but to throw a leg over the MTB for a change – anyway, the old Inbred had been feeling a little neglected…
So, time to get some mud on my tyres and grit between my teeth. We’ll call it a combined Active recovery and Handling Skills ride, as it was EXTREMELY muddy after last nights downpours!
Ended up being out for 2 1/4 hours of gentle bimbling about, got RENDERD in mud, and amazingly, didn’t fall off once!
Strava (not that this was what it was all about really) for the ride is here
And today, there were smiles, and mud, lots of mud, and wind, lots of wind, but there were definitely smiles. Admittedly, one of the widest smiles was on the dial of the old dear walking her dog, who clocked my “Borneo Mud Man” dial and cracked up laughing. I just smiled back, cracking some of the dirt away and said “They say it’s good for the Complexion” as I rode by…
Just a easy spin on the little red ‘bred… decided on the MTB as it was so damned windy I fully expected to get blown off the Road bike, and at least with the mahoosive bars on the inbred it’s easy to keep it pointing in the correct overall direction.
Thoroughly enjoyable stooge around, culminating in a puncture about a mile and a half from home coming out of the Woods at Coppers Lake – decided that I couldn’t be arsed to sit by the roadside and fix the puncture, so strolled home and put the kettle on, grabbed a brew, and fixed it in comfort instead.
Strava here – don’t laugh at the last bit – I WAS WALKING REMEMBER!!
